What would make reputable and well-respected
political personalities come to blows during parliamentary proceedings? The
answer to this question still remains a mystery as well-established
parliamentarians go at it again on the 13th of February 2024, as MP
for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and his colleague legislator for Ngleshi
Amanfrom, Hon. Sylvester Tetteh, got enveloped in series of altercations that
led fellow parliamentarians, to take up an extra role of becoming peacemakers
and peace enforcers all while parliamentary proceedings were ongoing.
The cause of this altercation is till now a mystery,
however, video circulation the internet reveal Hon. Kennedy vividly expressing
his disapproval over something with Hon. Sylvester standing next to him. The
first runner up NPP flagbearer aspirant, turned to face Tetteh and started
pointing his index fingers at Hon. Sylvester, having a vivid look of rage on
his face.
Hon. Tetteh not wanting to start something a scene
tried to go away; however, it looked like a comment he passed angered Hon.
Kennedy the more, causing him to turn and go after Tetteh.
Kennedy could clearly be heard saying “foolish boy”
The Deputy Minority leader, Hon. Alexander
Afenyo-Markin, foreseeing the calamity ahead, rushed to keep Tetteh away from
Kennedy’s reach. The Ngleshie MP was eventually led out of the parliamentary
floors, whiles Hon. Kennedy Agyapong went back to his seat. He still seemed
bitter over the issue. Hon. Yaw Patrick Boamah, MP of Okaikoi South, went over
to Kennedy to calm him down.
Sources have it that the altercation came about when
Sylvester Tetteh tried to exchange pleasantries with Kennedy Acheampong.
